COPD
Illnesses associated with COPD:
• COPD is the overall term used to describe a variety of illnesses such as chronic bronchitis, emphysema and chronic obstructive airways disease.
• In chronic bronchitis excess mucus is made in the airways. This increases restriction of the airways.
• Emphysema causes the alveoli to become over inflated due to lower elasticity levels. The pressure of coughing causes them to burst and lose function. This can lead to breathlessness.
How salt therapy works?
Dry sodium chloride particles are released from a halogenerator into the salt chamber.
Particles are 1-5 micrometers in size allowing them to travel to all sections of the respiratory tract as you breathe: from the trachea to alveoli.
The Sodium chloride particles are negatively charged. The inner surfaces of the airways have a positive charge meaning the particles settle more intensely.
This normalises mucocellular clearance: the salt particles loosen up mucus within the respiratory tracts allowing it to exit the body.
It has antibacterial effects as it inhibits the growth of bacteria due to osmosis: it dries out the bacteria so they are no longer living.
It provides anti-inflammatory effects.
It reduces bronchial hypertension: by allowing the lumen to widen and allowing blood to flow at ease due to improved gaseous exchange.
General lung function is improved.
The salt treatment will help with:
Clearing mucus from the airways; reducing airway obstruction. As well as reducing the chance of infection.
Relieving inflammation and congestion of the airways.
The bactericidal effects will help build up your immune system and improve your resistance to respiratory infections.
Reduces bronchial hyper-responsiveness.
Overall better lung function and improved breathing.
What to expect after your first experience:
A runny nose.
More intense coughing (the mucus needs to exit the system once it has been loosened).
You will be able to breathe easier within a few hours or days.
If you see no immediate difference, you will notice a difference after a few days or sessions.
Remember to be patient with yourself; no miracle therapy will cure you in just one session.
What to expect during a block of sessions:
Symptoms can worsen from time to time but after this period you will start to feel much better.
You will notice a decrease in the amount of use you need from an inhaler and other drugs. Please consult your doctor before decreasing your medication.
Amount of antibiotics needed over the course of a year can rapidly decrease.

RHINITIS-SINUSITIS
Salt therapy tackles rhinitis and sinusitis with a multi-pronged approach. The tiny salt particles act as natural decongestants, opening blocked nasal passages and sinuses.
ECZEMA & PSORIASIS
Salt therapy offers relief for both breath and skin! It can help clear airways and soothe irritated skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
ASTHMA
Salt therapy might help asthmatics breathe easier. The salt may reduce airway inflammation, loosen mucus, and potentially fight off infections that can worsen asthma.
